Detective Ryan is the central protagonist of the New York's Finest Collection, appearing in The Christmas Eve Murders, Beyond the Veil, and the soon to be released third book, currently going through final editorial reviews.
A rising star within his local NYPD precinct, Detective Ryan is portrayed as a dedicated investigator, who often finds himself in a race against time to solve high-stakes cases. His character is defined by his professional tenacity and unwavering commitment to resolve every case file that lands on his desk. Admitting to his cadet, that he is like a "dog with a bone", he is known for persevering against the odds to navigate complex trails of clues, leading him from the bustling streets of New York City, to the remote wilderness upstate.
Despite his methodical nature, he has inherited the superstitious beliefs of his Irish parents and remains haunted by ghosts from his past. Struggling to separate fiction from reality in his quest for the truth, he faces mysterious presences that remain one step ahead of him.
A measure of legal authenticity is sprinkled through the investigations to add a layer of realism to the case file inquiries, whether it's securing a search warrant from the presiding judge, or using established criminal law concepts to frame the motive and identify the wrongdoer.
The case file investigations are punctuated by snappy dialogue and humorous banter, particularly with his young cadet, Tony Vincenti. However dark the day may be, Detective Ryan is determined to retain his dry sense of humor!
